An death investigation of an Evansville man has been ruled a homicide.

Autopsy results revealed that 33-year-old Nicholas Mathew died from blood loss caused by multiple stab wounds to the neck.

His body was found in his apartment in the 1100 block of Hatfield Drive on Christmas Eve.

Police say 24-year-old John Vernon Jackson, Jr. is a suspect in the murder. We're by authorities that Mathews' credit cards were found on Jackson.

He is being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail on charges of stabbing and robbing an Evansville cab driver.

He is also accused of cutting a gas station clerk during a robbery last week.
