Fatal Car Accident in Warrick County

A driver involved in a late afternoon crash Thursday on highway 66 in Warrick County has died of his injuries.

The sheriff's department said John Warner of Boonville died at St. Mary's Medical Center. The other driver, Gerald Hammond of Grandview has been hospitalized.

The two-vehicle accident happened near Country Place Drive. Warner tried to go around a car which was stopped and waiting, and his car went off the road and into gravel. When his vehicle came back onto the road, it crossed the center line and was struck in the passenger side door.

The accident is still under investigation to determine if speed was a factor.
