An emotional vigil was held Friday evening for Angie Dixon, the mother shot and killed during what police say was an attempted robbery.

Police determined that three people were inside Dixon's apartment at the Arbors at Evansville when she was killed Wednesday morning.

19-year-old Katyun Jerrod Marsh is being held on a murder charge.

Police believe that Marsh shot Dixon during the robbery.

Also arrested were 29-year-old, Brandi Michelle Philips, and 24-year-old Blake Anthony Fisher, on chargers of robbery, conspiracy, and assisting a criminal.

Angie's daughter Jayla Dixon tells 14 News that she and her mother knew Brandi Philips, one of the suspected accomplices, very well. Jayla says she's shocked that someone that they once let live with them is one of the people who took her mom's life.

"Brandi was, which is a sad story, she was my mom's long time friend," says Jayla. "My mom did everything she could for her. How could she take someone's life away from a 16-year-old?"

Jayla tells us when Brandi was down on her luck, her mom took her in. Jayla says they provided for her and she saw Brandi just two weeks ago.

"She actually came through my drive-thru at McDonalds when I was working, and she told me to say hi to my mom and everything," says Jayla.

A cab driver who was on duty Thursday morning tells 14 News what he told police: he picked the three suspects up and took them to the Arbors apartments.

He says Philips and Fisher went inside Angie's apartment while Marsh stayed in the cab. The cab drier says he saw Angie come out of the apartment and was there for about 30 minutes before the suspects paid him, and he left.

"We've dedicated a lot of man hours in the last 24-hours to going through this information," says Sgt. Jason Cullum.

The cab driver says he told police the suspects called him about 40-minutes later, and asked him to pick them up at the neighborhood Wal Mart.

Police say tips and information from neighbors led them to the suspects. The arrests, Jayla says, give her a sense of peace.

"It makes me feel better now," says Jayla. "I don't have to wonder who killed my mom and she can finally rest in peace."

Friends, neighbors, and loves ones gathered to remember Angie on Friday night.

"She was a strong person. She did whatever she could," says Jayla. "She was a single mom, she was pretty much a mom to everybody, all my friends that are out here right now."

Jayla thanks her mother for making her the woman she's grown to be.

"She made me a strong person or I wouldn't be here today, and hopefully I become even stronger after this and it's made me who I am today," says Jayla.
