More than 70 people have applied to adopt 17 puppies found dumped along a northwestern Indiana road Friday night.
Lakeshore PAWS director Jeanne Sommer says all of the puppies now have families lined up to adopt them. The mother dog has been placed in a foster home and eventually will be placed for adoption.
The puppies are all Labrador retriever mixes and appear to be from two litters. Officials say they were abandoned in a wooded area near the Indiana Dunes State Park and discovered by a Porter woman, who helped round them up.
Police are still seeking information on who dumped the dogs. The Porter woman said she saw a gold SUV speed off as she approached.
