An accident in Vigo County, Indiana leaves one person dead.

Officials released the name of the victim Thursday.

They say 80-year-old Charlotte Ellis was killed Thursday just after noon in Terre Haute at the intersection of 56th and US 41.

Sheriff Greg Ewing says a semi driver became distracted after something fell off his seat and hit Ellis from behind causing her vehicle to slam into vehicles in front of her.

Ewing says that this is a good example of just a split second distraction can affect your driving.

The preliminary investigation reveals there seems to be no evidence that the brakes in the semi were dysfunctional.
