Customers line up for reopening of Popeyes

Popeyes Chicken is open for business and it's been busy.

The restaurant reopened at its old location on First Avenue on Monday in Evansville after closing a few years ago.

Customers started lining up early Monday evening in the lobby and in the drive-thru. 14 News asked one of the cashiers if the turnout surprised her.

"I personally did not expect this. My boss did. He was positive there was going to be more than a 1,000 people. He was right. I wasn't expecting it all," cashier Laricka McNary said.

Popeyes Louisiana Chicken opened its first restaurant in New Orleans more than 40 years ago. There are now more than 2,000 Popeyes restaurants.
