GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) - A coal train accident in Gibson County causes at least one of its cars to lose its load.

It happened around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday night near Monroe Street in Princeton.

We're told a Norfolk Southern coal train jumped off the track then back on again.

Officials say three railroad crossings were shut down because of the coal piled up on the track.

They say part of the track was damaged at the Makemson Avenue crossing.

Vehicles are not able to cross at the Monroe Street crossing due to the spilled coal.

Officials tell us trains are being diverted to another set of tracks for the time being.

Officials say that the Monroe Street crossing will be cleaned up this morning but that the Makemson Avenue crossing will likely be shut down for a few days to repair damage done to the tracks.
