The former treasurer of a Pike County church has been sentenced to three years in jail, and a year of probation.

Indiana State Police say 68-year-old Phyllis Jones embezzled more than $250,000 from Gospel Center Church in Petersburg.

Jones was arrested in October of 2010, and has been out of jail on bond.

Troopers say Jones issued more than $1,000 unauthorized checks from January 2003 to April 2010.
