AUSTIN, IN (WAVE) - A small southern Indiana community has bid farewell to three children and their mother.

On January 21, Indiana State Police say 30-year-old Amanda Bennett shot her three children, 14-year-old Jasmine, 9-year-old Katelynn and 4-year-old Ryan, before she set the house on fire.

Police say Bennett then took her own life.

The bodies were discovered in their home by police, who went there on a welfare check last week.

Bennett and her husband had recently gotten a divorce.

Indiana State Police are aware of an internet posting under a forum that reads, "Gone Forever," that may have been written by Bennett.

The posting reads, "Time to take the pain away. This is what you wanted, no wife and no kids."
