VINCENNES, IN (AP) - A 56-year-old Knox County man was hurt Tuesday afternoon in a freak accident involving the moped he was riding.

According to Vincennes police, Robert Baker of Bicknell was riding south on Bruceville Road, approaching the intersection of Crestview Drive when a load of items he was hauling behind him came loose and the nylon strap that had been holding them to the moped became wrapped around the rear wheel.  That caused the moped to stop abruptly, throwing Baker from the vehicle and onto the pavement.

He was treated at the scene for multiple medical issues including a severe head injury.

Baker was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, then airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.
