MUHLENBERG CO., KY (WFIE) - A former police officer and two other men have been found guilty of killing a Muhlenberg County woman 22 years ago.
It took the jury nearly two days to reach that verdict.
Former officer Billy Fields was found guilty late Tuesday afternoon of murder, rape, kidnapping, sodomy and tampering with physical evidence.
Jeffrey Boyd was found guilty of murder, kidnapping and rape, and the third defendant, Jimmie Dale Carter, was found guilty of manslaughter, rape and kidnapping.
Christian County court officials said they are now in the penalty phase which could take a few hours.
Former Central City police officer Billy Fields, Jeffrey Boyd, and Jimmie Cramer were arrested two years ago after authorities said they got new evidence in the case.
Corinna Mullen's body was found beaten, mutilated and stuffed inside the trunk of her car in a parking lot in 1987.
Authorities said Fields had a relationship with Mullen, 20, before her death and that he was the investigating officer into her murder.
