City of Evansville hosts event for small businesses
60 local business owners attended the annual networking session
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The City of Evansville hosted its “Doing Business with the City” event for local businesses Tuesday morning.
About 60 local business owners and employees attended to get insight into city contracting processes and opportunities, organizers said.
The event took place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility Sunrise Pump Station, located at 1200 Waterworks Road.
Small business owners tell us it’s important to get out there and make strong connections.
“There’s no way you can do anything in your community. When it’s that ‘I, I, I’ mentality, you’re not going to accomplish anything other than for yourself. But when you’ve got a group mindset and a group activity, it takes a lot of stress off you. You’ve got somebody to lean on, to talk to and get a little more direction. It takes a lot of the fight out of the fight,” said Casey Sellers, owner and operator of Sellers Masonry.
Mayor Stephanie Terry said the city does the event once a year and plans to continue it.
