Vanderburgh Co. Coroner identifies pedestrian hit, killed on Highway 41
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Dispatchers say a section of Northbound Highway 41 was shut down near Washington Avenue.
They say a pedestrian was hit by a car shortly before 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Police say the road was closed for about 30 minutes.
On Monday, the Vanderburgh County Coroner identified the pedestrian as 35-year-old Herbert Moore of Evansville.
They say witnesses reported that Moore walked out from behind some bushes into the roadway. One driver almost hit him, but was able to stop in time.
Police say the driver of an SUV in the next lane didn’t see Moore in time.
They say Moore was alert and talking when he was taken to the hospital.
On Sunday, police confirmed he died at the hospital.
According to the Vanderburgh County Coroner, Moore died as a result of head injuries sustained in the crash.
