EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Fire crews were called to a home in the 300 block of Read Street.

Just before 5 a.m. Tuesday, the Evansville Police Department confirmed crews were called back to the scene to extinguish hot spots.

They say the initial fire happened around 8 p.m. Monday.

According to police reports, the fire is being investigated as a possible arson.

They say there were items stacked in the home that seemed to be purposely placed in order for the fire to burn.

Officials say nobody was home, but two firefighters were hurt.

According to a press release, one of those firefighters went to the hospital for x-rays, while the other firefighter stayed on scene.

Officials say the home was destroyed.

They say neighbors told them they’ve seen homeless activity in the house.

Crews were called back to that scene Tuesday morning to put out hot spots.
