Suspect arrested after search in Warrick Co.

WARRICK CO., Ind. (WFIE) - A suspect has been arrested on felony warrants in Warrick County.

Authorities had been searching for 34-year-old Matthew Barclay of Newburgh Monday morning in the area of Highway 261 and Highway 66.

Sheriff Wilder says when they first tried to take Barclay into custody, he ran.

He says they got a report he was trying to break into an apartment at Canterbury Apartments. That’s where they were able to corner him and arrest him.

Officials tell us Castle High School was asked to lock their doors as a precaution during the search.

Barclay is now facing several other charges, including dealing in meth, possession, resisting, domestic battery, intimidation, strangulation and confinement.
