KENTUCKY (WFIE) - Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear gave a coronavirus update Monday.

Beshear says new Covid cases in Kentucky appear to be hitting a plateau after declining for several weeks.

“The top line here is it does look like we’ve plateaued,” Beshear said. “That’s not a reason to think that there is another surge. It looks like we’ve plateaued on the positivity rate at about 5.5 percent. We are still at a very serious level.”

Gov. Beshear says on Saturday there were 1,561 new Covid cases and 45 new deaths. On Sunday, 747 new Covid cases and 11 deaths were reported. On Monday, 726 new Covid cases and 10 new deaths were reported.

Beshear urged people to get themselves, as well as their children vaccinated. He says children make up about 25-30 percent of all new Covid cases in Kentucky.

They say all eligible vaccinated Kentucky adults can now get any of the three Covid vaccine booster shots.
