OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - Firefighters were called to the scene of a large fire in Owensboro on Thursday afternoon.

Officials say this happened at AAA storage units located right off West Fourth Street, near Ewing Road.

We are told the fire started around 1 p.m. Thursday, and quickly spread.

Employees at Murphy Excavating, which is located right next door, tell 14 News as soon as they noticed the flames, they started moving trailers and equipment out of the way.

“We saw the fire over here at the storage building and it was really close to our trucks and stuff,” said Kim Griffin, who works next door to where the fire started. “So we just worked together to get everything off the lot and let the fire department take over.”

Employees say the fire department made it on scene within minutes, and the fire was quickly contained after crews arrived.

No injuries have been reported.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
