EFD: Several displaced after apartment fire in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Evansville fire crews responded to an apartment fire Monday morning.

Officials say it happened in the 1200 block of South Weinbach around 8:30.

When firefighters arrived, they say they found a bedroom on fire in a first-floor two-bedroom apartment.

Officials tell us two adults, five kids and a dog that lived in the apartment will be displaced indefinitely.

Three more occupants from the apartment above will be displaced until utilities are turned back on.

According to a press release, the fire caused a lot of heat and smoke damage to the apartment that was on fire. Several apartments in the complex had smoke in them, which was ventilated by firefighters.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Officials tell us no injuries were reported.
