POSEY CO., Ind. (WFIE) - Sheriff Tom Latham held a press conference regarding the Posey County deputy who was shot late Saturday night in New Harmony.

The press conference began Sunday at 3 p.m.

You can watch the full press conference in the video below:

Sheriff Latham says 70-year-old Paul Wiltshire was the suspect involved in the shooting. Latham also says the deputy who was shot was Deputy Hicks, and he is currently in the ICU in critical condition.

He says Wiltshire used to work for the town of New Harmony as a town marshall years ago. The sheriff also says that Wiltshire was a reserve deputy in Posey County over 16 years ago.

The last time an officer-involved shooting happened in the county was back in 1994.

The sheriff’s office requested that ISP investigate the case and any questions can be sent to them.

Latham also asked the community to pray for Deputy Bryan Hicks as well as his family.
