Willard Library, Children’s Museum of Evansville now requiring masks inside
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Officials at Willard Library say they are now requiring masks as of Monday, August 2.
That announcement came on their Facebook page, saying library staff and customers must wear a mask when inside the building.
They say this is due to the rise in coronavirus cases.
”I really thought that we were on a path to, better,” Gregory Hager, the Willard Library Director said.
That’s the response after a tough decision made by Willard Library’s Director, as COVID-19 cases rise in our area.
”Due to the Delta COVID response, it’s become imperative that we protect our public and our staff. Just try and keep everyone safe,” Hager said.
Masks. If you want to use the library now, that’s what you’ll need to bring with you to go in.
Some say, that’s the right decision.
”I was really happy to hear that Willard as decided to implement the mask policy again. I understand with the numbers of COVID patients rising again that they’re trying to do what’s best for the community,” Lori Salma, a teacher who uses the library said.
Lori’s a teacher at Montessori Academy and also loves to go to the library, so she says that the mask policy isn’t only protecting her, but her students as well.
”I think that it’s important, even if you’re not worried about getting sick and this is something that I teach the children in the classroom and I think is something everyone wants their children to learn, is that we need to take care of each other and sometimes that means we have to do things we might not want to do,” Salma said.
And while there’s no timeline for when these businesses will stop requiring masks again, there’s one simple message from the library’s director.
”Just get vaccinated. We want to have everyone back here,” Hager said.
Officials with the Children’s Museum of Evansville also posted to social media, saying they are also requiring masks to be worn inside.
They say masks will be mandatory, starting Tuesday for all visitors, adults and children two and older.
