Team USA women’s basketball earns back-to-back wins over No. 1 ranked France, Mongolia

TOKYO (WFIE) - It was a successful opening day for the U.S. Olympic 3x3 women’s basketball team during the sport’s debut this weekend.

To begin the tournament, Team USA upset No. 1 ranked France on Saturday, winning 17-10 with First Lady Jill Biden in the stands watching.

In her Olympic debut, Las Vegas Aces guard and Princeton native Jackie Young scored one point and grabbed four rebounds.

Later in the day, the U.S. women followed up their first game in style, knocking off Mongolia in a 21-9 blowout victory.

Young also finished with one point and four boards in the later contest.

The U.S. women (2-0) will next face Romania (0-2) at 3:30 a.m. CST on Sunday.

Following this matchup, Team USA is set to take on the Russian Olympic Committee (2-0). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:25 a.m. CST.
