OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - Owensboro High School seniors walked across the stage and get their diplomas Tuesday.

Students and faculty from Owensboro High School celebrated the graduation of 252 seniors at Rash Stadium.

Class President Kaysia Harrington says finishing high school in a pandemic made the class of 2021 unique.

“We didn’t get a homecoming. We didn’t get a lot of traditional senior events that they typically get, but we still managed to make things work,” said Harrington.

“As they gathered at Rash Stadium one last time, Harrington says they were confident that they belonged in those caps and gowns.

“We’re all eager and ready,” she shared. “This is a moment we’ve been waiting for for a long time. It’s over; we made it.”

In the Fall, she’ll be studying government and African American studies with a secondary study in education at Harvard University.

Her classmates will have their own paths next year.

After today, with their diplomas in hand and caps in the air, Harrington says they’ll always be Owensboro High’s class of 2021.
