EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A woman is in custody after leading police on a chase that ended in a crash.

According to a police report, that started just after 3 Monday afternoon on Negley Avenue near Stringtown in Evansville.

Officers say they tried to pull over 36-year-old Becky Edwards, but she took off.

Police say Edwards tried to turn onto Governor Street, but because she was going so fast, her vehicle went off the road, hit a traffic sign and two homes.

According to officials, she tried to run away and hide but was eventually arrested by officers.

Our crew on that scene tells us there wasn’t a lot of damage to the homes, and no one was hurt.

Edward is now in the Vanderburgh County Jail facing several charges including resisting, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
