Burgett resigns as Madisonville football coach, accepts job at Henderson Co.

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WFIE) - The Madisonville North Hopkins football program is looking for a new head coach after Jay Burgett announced his resignation through his Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.

Burgett has been at the helm of the Maroons’ program since 2015.

Under his leadership, Madisonville was a Kentucky 4A powerhouse.

In 2019, the Maroons made a state semifinal appearance, falling to Johnson Central in the Final Four.

It was a quick turnaround for Burgett on the job market. Minutes after announcing his resignation, Burgett was named the Associate Athletic Director and Associate Head Football Coach at Henderson County High School.
