Man donates bicycle to Evansville non-profit after bikes were stolen

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A good news update on the pair of bikes which were recently stolen from Sycamore Services in Evansville.

Someone snatched the bikes over the weekend.

An Evansville man heard the news about the theft and decided to help.

Peter Emery volunteers his time as the bike shop coordinator at Patchwork Central. He and other volunteers help refurbish bicycles.

Emery says he had a three-wheeled bike at the shop, and immediately got permission to donate the bicycle.

On Thursday morning, Emery dropped the bike off at Sycamore Services.

Emery says it feels fantastic to give back to a non-profit who was in need of a bike.

“This has been an opportunity to not only donate a bike that’s going to be well used, but to get to know another service in town that I wasn’t aware of before,” he said.

Emery says he plans to look for another three-wheeled bike that he will also donate to Sycamore Services.
