EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Feed Evansville made its way to Hartke Pool again Wednesday for a community food giveaway.
Officials tell us they’ve seen a decline in the need for the giveaway since last March.
They say at the height of COVID-19, they were giving away 7,000 food boxes weekly, but now they’re averaging around 2,000 a week.
Officials say they’re hoping to continue these kind of events in the future for those in need.
“There’s a lot of people who have lost their jobs, and that takes time to restore. So right now, we’ve been dealing with relief work and giving everyone what they needed to get through this storm, and now we’re getting back to life. We’re really going to be focusing on recovery work and then get to restoration, so they can be where they were better prior to COVID,” said Feed Evansville Chair Lisa Vaughan.
Officials say for future events you can stay up to date on the Feed Evansville Facebook page.
