KSP: 3 dead, 2 flown to hospitals after KY 81 crash
Authorities identify crash victims
McLEAN CO., Ky. (WFIE) - Kentucky State Police say KY 81 was shut down in McLean County near the Daviess County line on Thursday because of a four-car crash.
The wreck happened after 11 a.m. Thursday.
Troopers say three people are dead, and two people were flown to hospitals.
KSP officials say 35-year-old Joshua Fox of Nortonville was driving north on KY 81 when it clipped a truck heading the other direction. State troopers say the driver of the truck, 53-year-old Brian Korb of Dawson Springs, then smashed into another car in a head-on collision.
Police confirm that Fox died at the scene.
State troopers say the car that was hit head on had four people inside. The driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Dylan C. Howard of Calhoun, was airlifted to Saint Vincent Hospital in Evansville. His condition remains unknown.
A juvenile passenger in Howard’s car was flown to Norton Hospital in Louisville. Two other passengers in the same vehicle, 23-year-old Shawna Rodney and 3-year-old Emberlyn Howard, were pronounced dead on scene.
Korb was not injured, but troopers arrested him for operating under the influence.
KY 81 was closed for over nine hours as crews worked to piece together the scene.
Police told 14 News that investigators are currently unsure on the cause of the accident. Officers say it’s going to take a month to determine what happened.
