KSP update what they think happened in deadly McLean Co. crash

McLEAN CO., Ky. (WFIE) - Kentucky State Police say KY 81 was shut down in McLean County near the Daviess County line last week because of a four-car crash.

The wreck happened after 11 a.m. Thursday.

Troopers say three people are dead, and two people were flown to hospitals.

The Tuesday after the crash, KSP sent an update on what they believe happened.

They say, after further review of scale diagramming and on-scene evidence, troopers determined Dylan (Cole) Howard was traveling northbound and crossed over sideswiping a dump truck driven by Brian Korb.

They say Howard then crashed head-on into Joshua Fox who was following the dump truck heading southbound.

Fox died at the scene, as well as two of Howard’s passengers, 23-year-old Shawna Rodney and 3-year-old Emberlyn Howard.

Howard and another juvenile passenger were flown to the hospital. Both have now been released.

Korb was not hurt, but troopers arrested him for operating under the influence.

KY 81 was closed for over nine hours as crews worked to piece together the scene.

KSP says the crash remains under investigation.
