Gracie’s Chinese Cuisine temporarily closed; search warrant served by Homeland Security

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A sign on the door to Gracie’s Chinese Cuisine says the northside Evansville business is temporarily closed.

A police presence was spotted at the Highway 41 location on Wednesday.

14 News has reached out to several agencies.

We received a statement from Homeland Security Thursday.

“Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and IRS special agents, with the assistance of the Indiana State Police, conducted federal search warrants in the Evansville, Indiana, area yesterday as part of an ongoing criminal investigation. There is no threat to the public. As the matter remains an ongoing investigation no further information is currently available.”

Indiana State Police confirmed that they were on scene specifically at Gracie’s Chinese Cuisine on Wednesday morning.

14 News knocked on the door of the home of the restaurant owners and nobody answered. Neighbors in that area say that they also saw an unusual number of cars outside the home at mid-morning on Wednesday.
