Daviess Co. Fiscal Court discusses KY vaccine rollout

Gov. Holcomb to extend order for county-level coronavirus restrictions

DAVIESS CO., Ky. (WFIE) - The Daviess County Fiscal Court held its weekly Facebook live Wednesday.

Judge-Executive Al Mattingly spoke with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Secretary Jim Gray about the commonwealth’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

Secretary Gray is leading the vaccine distribution in Kentucky, as part of a national task he described as “the largest logistics project in world history.”

“The challenge so far has been three words: supply, supply, supply,” says Secretary Gray.

Secretary Gray told Judge Mattingly his team is working right now to get more vaccine clinics to under-served areas, including Daviess County, as soon as more vaccines are available.

Leaders also mentioned mobile vaccinations units are not out of the question, in order to get more vaccines to underserved neighborhoods in Daviess County.

Secretary Gray says if the Johnson & Johnson vaccine gets its emergency use authorization, a one-shot vaccine could also make it easier for residents in Daviess County to be immunized.
