ILLINOIS (WFIE) - On Thursday, the state of Illinois reported 4,191 new COVID-19 cases and 103 additional deaths statewide.

The state now has now had a total of 1,116,372 cases and 19,067 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to the state’s COVID map, there are 17 new cases in our Illinois counties.

Those include eight in White County, five in Wabash County, three in Wayne County and one in Edwards County.

Illinois entered Phase 1B of the state’s vaccine rollout plan.

With vaccines arriving earlier in the week, Egyptian Health Department began vaccinating qualifying people on Tuesday.

Shortages in Illinois have forced the health department to place people on a waitlist.

They say as they receive new vaccines each week, they fill appointments as they become available.

Around 80 people were vaccinated Tuesday.

Kimberly Feuqueay, a nurse who spent the day administering those shots, said it was good to finally start helping seniors.

“It’s very, very rewarding,” Feuqueay said. “Very rewarding. Nursing is my calling, I’ve known for years it’s my calling... I just wish we could crank them out a little faster.”

The Wabash County Health Department announced that they will be holding a mass vaccination clinic on Friday for those 65 and older.

That will be at the Parkview Christian Church.

Wabash County health officials say all appointments are filled at this time, however, if you are 65 and older and live or work in Wabash or Edwards County, you can call them at 618-263-3873.

They ask that you don’t show up at Parkview Friday if you don’t have a confirmed vaccination appointment.

On Wednesday, the Egyptian Health Department opened a COVID-19 Vaccination Wait-List for individuals in Phase 1A and 1B who have not yet received their COVID-19 vaccine.

For those that are eligible, please call 618-273-3326 extension 2260 and leave a message with your name, phone number, city that you reside in and the reason that you qualify for a vaccine (example: age or job title/employer).

You will be added to a wait-list. Those on the wait-list will be called in the event that a vaccine appointment was canceled or when there are extra vaccines at the end of a clinic.
