WARRICK CO., Ind. (WFIE) - Officials with Warrick County Schools say they were dismissing two hours early due to the winter weather advisory on Wednesday.
School officials say they began dismissing students at 12:45 p.m.
As parents lined up at Castle Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon, some told 14 News they are fine with the unexpected schedule change if it means their little ones are safe.
“I’m just thankful they’re being cautious,” parent Melanie Petzold said. “I would much rather them be cautious than maybe try to let them go into school, then God forbid something happens.”
WCSC officials say they are not sure yet whether this winter weather advisory will impact school schedules on Thursday. If any changes arise, school administrators say that parents will know first thing in the morning.
The North Gibson School Corporation also dismissed their students at noon because of the incoming weather.
North Gibson School leaders say there was no afternoon pre-school at the primary school, while the after school childcare program was closed.
They also told 14 News that all after school activities were canceled for Wednesday.
