ISP: Driver, passenger arrested after short chase on Broadway Ave.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Indiana State Police was involved in a short chase on Broadway Avenue on Wednesday.

According to ISP Sgt. Todd Ringle, the chase lasted for less than one minute.

ISP says that state troopers terminated the pursuit after the car crashed at Broadway Avenue and Hillside Terrace.

Authorities say the driver, 22-year-old Brett Salmon, and passenger, 23-year-old Kwauntai Flax, fled on foot. Both were arrested.

They say both were having difficulty breathing and were taken to the hospital to be treated before being booked in jail.

Officials say further investigation showed that Salmon and Flax were under the influence of K2.

Salmon had also struck another vehicle on Broadway, causing minor injuries to the driver.

Salmon is currently being held on no bond and is facing several charges, including reckless driving, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a crash, and resisting.

Flax is facing a resisting charge and has been released on a $100 bond.
