Suspect identified in Mt. Vernon shooting

MT. VERNON, Ind. (WFIE) - The Mount Vernon Police Department says an arrest has been made in connection to the shooting that sent one person to the hospital.

The incident happened around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of West Fourth Street.

We are told the victim is in stable condition at this time. Police say that investigators have not been able to interview the victim due to his hospitalization.

The suspect, 45-year-old Michael Russell, is being charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury (Level 5 felony). He’s currently lodged in the Posey County Jail.
