McLean Co., Ky (WFIE) - In Mclean County, a local historian has raised the money for a new monument on some very historic ground.
Holly Johnson, of Livermore, has enjoyed history her whole life, and with the help of the community, she will be erecting a monument honoring African Americans from Livermore who lost their lives in war.
The monument will be placed on the ground that was used as an African American cemetery.
“Somebody can come up and look, and they can find out about the lives of these people,” said Johnson. “And that is what all about I am doing.”
The monument is expected to be in its new home in the next couple of weeks.
