Colts fans donate to Josh Allen’s charity as ‘thank you’
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) -Indianapolis football fans let out a sigh of relief on Sunday afternoon after the Colts extended their season to the playoffs with a win against the Jaguars.
Jameson Hutchison, an Indiana native and die-hard Philip Rivers fan, vowed before the weekends’ games to donate to whichever team helped Indy secure a spot into the playoffs. That team? The Bills. As Buffalo defeated the Dolphins to clear a path for the Colts to enter the post-season.
Hutchison chose Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen’s charity of choice, the Patricia Allen Fund at Oishei Children’s Hospital, set up in honor of Allen’s late grandmother. Hutchison tweeted out a snapshot of his donation form which then spurred a movement within the Colts’ fanbase that led to nearly $3,000 worth of donations in Patricia’s honor.
”They’ve dedicated the whole 10th wing to Josh Allen and his family and that goes to the pediatric facility and the patients over there,” said Hutchison. “It means a lot to do something, even if it’s just a little bit to get the ball rolling to get everybody to help out, it’s pretty cool.”
“Especially with the year that we’ve had in 2020, I just thought it’d bring some positivity in the world. It starts with you, it starts with me so whatever I can do to try and help, I might as well do it - it’s for a good cause.”
As of Sunday night, the Patricia Allen Fund has exceeded over $1,500,000.
Indianapolis will now travel to face Buffalo in the NFL Wildcard Round, kickoff is Saturday at 12:05 PM at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
