EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Vanderburgh County Dispatch says crews responded to a working fire on the corner of Monroe and East Park Drive.
We are told the call came in at 7:28 a.m.
Investigator Tim Strange tells 14 News that a passerby noticed smoke coming from the attic vents and called 911. He says the fire was limited to one side of the attic in the duplex.
We are told an overhaul was needed, and the fire was quickly extinguished. Strange states this was an electric fire.
The Evansville Fire Department says electric and gas were shut off to both sides of the duplex as a precaution.
Strange says one person has been displaced and the Red Cross has been contacted while the residents on the other side of the duplex were not affected.
Fire officials say no one was hurt and the fire has been ruled accidental.
