EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Officials with Deaconess say they are changing visitation guidelines due to the pandemic.
These changes are slated to go into effect Monday, November 16.
At Deaconess Midtown, Gateway, Henderson and Gibson Hospitals, visiting hours will change to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
Adult inpatients will be limited to one visitor per calendar day. Pediatric patients may have two visitors.
Patients in isolation will not be permitted visitors. Visitation exceptions will be made for end-of-life situations and other special circumstances.
Outpatients for most office visits or testing will not be permitted a visitor. If the patient is a minor or needs physical or cognitive assistance, they may have one person accompanying them.
Deaconess Cross Pointe and Deaconess Union County are also limiting visitors with similar guidelines. The Women’s Hospital will continue to allow one visitor per patient throughout their stay. NICU patients will be allowed visitation by both parents.
“We must continue to protect our patients, visitors and employees from coronavirus infection by limiting visitors into our hospitals and clinics,” said Jill Buttry, Chief Nursing Officer, Deaconess Gateway and Midtown Hospitals. “As a healthcare organization, there are people inside each of our facilities who are already ill or otherwise compromised. We have been entrusted by our patients and loved ones to keep them safe... Our employees are our frontline staff who risk their own well-being to take care of patients. By limiting visitors in our buildings, we reduce risk to our healthcare workers who need to remain healthy and safe to provide patient care.”
