Central City, Ky. (WFIE) - The coronavirus pandemic is changing plans in Central City.
Because of the new recommendations, special events that had been planned, like carriage rides, live music, and a visit by Santa, have been canceled.
The city’s Facebook page had the following post:
“As of Tuesday, November 10, Muhlenberg County has fallen under Red Zone Reduction Recommendations relative to the COVID-19 pandemic. With 74 newly reported cases in the last seven days, new guidelines from the governor’s office are in place relative to public events. Specifically, we are asked “to reschedule, postpone, or cancel public events” and “not host gatherings of any size.” As a result, the City of Central City and Central City Tourism Commission have cancelled special activities scheduled for downtown this weekend. This cancellation notice includes carriage rides, live music, and an appearance by Santa. Business and food truck decisions will be made on an individual basis. We are truly disappointed to make this difficult decision but feel it to be the right thing to do to protect the health of our citizens.”
