ILLINOIS (WFIE) - Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is gave a COVID-19 update Tuesday.

Gov. Pritzker advised people to stay off social media for a few days, saying outsiders will try to pit Americans against each other after the election.

He warned results may not be available until Friday, since there ware so many ballots to count. Tallied votes must be announced by Nov. 17.

Pritzker was asked about election watch parties. He said it’s up to local officials to make sure COVID-19 mitigations are being followed.

There has been 430,018 total positive confirmed COVID-19 cases in Illinois and 9,878 deaths.

Here are the total number of coronavirus cases and deaths reported in our area:

  • Wayne County - 550 cases, 18 deaths
  • White County - 305 cases, 5 death
  • Wabash County - 265 cases, 6 deaths
  • Edwards County - 119 cases
