EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Police say a person is in critical condition after being shot in Evansville.
That happened just after 8:30 Sunday night in the 1300 block of Hatfield Drive.
According to a press release from the Evansville Police Department, when officers arrived they found the victim on the ground with the suspect standing nearby.
Officials say the victim was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to his leg and stomach.
Officers were later told that the victim was in a domestic dispute with his wife before the shooting. They say the wife called the suspect to help protect her when things became violent.
When the suspect arrived, police say there was a fight that ended with the suspect allegedly shooting the victim.
Officers say the victim is currently in critical condition but is expected to survive.
They say the suspect was taken into custody for questioning but was released pending potential charges.
