ILLINOIS (WFIE) - During his weekly coronavirus update, Gov. JB Pritzker confirmed that Illinois now has a total of 238,643 confirmed cases and 8,091 deaths.
Gov. Pritzker announced Wednesday that nine of the state’s 11 regions are seeing an increased positivity rate, and this includes all four counties in our area following a recent spike in Wayne County.
“Facts and science will continue to determine what efforts Illinois should make to protect our people,” Gov. Prtizker said.
The Governor is also asking his state to mask up ahead of the holiday weekend. Meanwhile, health officials in Wayne County are doing the same same, urging residents to keep their guard up after a rise in cases.
“And let me remind you that people are dying every day from the horrible virus, and thousands who have recovered are still suffering from life-threatening pulmonary and cardiac symptoms,” Gov. Pritzker said.
Here are the current cases in our Illinois area:
- White County - 125 cases
- Wabash County - 108 cases, one death
- Edwards County - 42 cases
- Wayne County - 112 cases, two deaths
