14 News was told that Detective Joe Stratton and deputies worked throughout the night to obtain warrants. They also worked with MNPD to get Stone served with those warrants.

According to authorities, the Sheriff’s Office will begin the process of extraditing Stone back to Kentucky this week.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office previously confirmed that a woman died and a child was taken to the hospital after a shooting that happened at the Earlington Ideal Market.

The Sheriff’s Office has identified the shooting victim as 30-year-old Nicole Merrell of Madisonville. Hopkins County Sheriff Matt Sanderson said the toddler-aged child was hospitalized for gunshot wounds but is expected to fully recover.

Meanwhile, the Sheriff confirmed the alleged shooter and the female victim have children together. 14 News spoke with a woman who says Stone and Merrell have a daughter.

“God be with her,” Mary Yancey said. “I’m going to miss her. She’s a good mom. She is a really good mom. She took care of her kids. She loved her kids dearly. I don’t think it’s fair that he took her life like that. Oh, Jesus - she’s a beautiful person.”

Stone is charged with murder, assault and 12 counts of wanton endangerment in the 1st degree.
