SR 57 back open after crash

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - State Road 57 is now back open after a crash that happened just before 2:50 p.m.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office investigated the injury crash in the area of State Road 57 and Baumgart Road.

A preliminary investigation indicated the Jeep was driving erratically while traveling north on SR 57 from Highway 41 before entering oncoming traffic. Officials say the Jeep collided with the Mack truck, which was traveling south on SR 57.

We are told the driver of the jeep was unconscious and taken to an area hospital by ambulance.

According to state law regarding crashes involving serious bodily injury or death, both drivers were subject to a post-crash blood draw. The crash will remain under investigation pending toxicology results.
