Warrick Co. Sheriff’s Office releases woman’s name in fatal crash

WARRICK Co., Ind. (WFIE) - Dispatch confirms with 14 News the driver of the passenger car has died.

The Warrick County Sheriff’s Office says 57-year-old Donna J. Wells of Warrick County was transported to St. Vincent in Evansville where she was pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office is still investigating the crash, and families have been notified.

Dispatch says the crash was on Hwy 66 and French Island Trail in Newburgh on Tuesday.

Warrick County Sheriff Mike Wilder tells 14 News a passenger car was traveling west on Indiana 66 when it drove into the path of a semi near French Island Trail.

Sheriff Wilder says the driver of that car was transported from the scene by ambulance with serious injuries.

Indiana 66 was closed for several hours as crews cleared the scene. Newburgh Police and Fire also responded to the scene.
