ILLINOIS (WFIE) - The Wayne County Health Department reports one new positive case of COVID-19. They say the male is in his 50s and in isolation at home.

The health department reports two people in Wayne Co. have recovered from the coronavirus while six people remain in isolation. Health officials say 520 people have been tested in the county.

IL Gov. JB Pritzker gave his coronavirus update.

Illinois announces 96,485 total positive coronavirus cases along with 4,243 total deaths.

Gov. Pritzker and his team say 603,241 tests have been administered.

Governor Pritzker announces the Illinois Contact Tracing Collaborative to scale up contact tracing.

“With Illinois’ daily availability of testing among the best in the nation, we want to grow our voluntary contact tracing so we can further control and reduce the rate of spread of COVID-19 and stop outbreaks in their tracks,” said Governor JB Pritzker.

Additionally, IDPH sent assessments to the state’s 97 local health departments with half already sending back their initial assessments regarding their ability to expand and deploy their contact tracing capabilities.

Starting Monday, IDPH is sending out asks for work plans and budgets these health departments

SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon says they have resumed limited elective procedures.

They are continuing to maintain safety measures, including testing all patients before scheduled procedures, screening all employees, visitors and contractors, grouping patients with COVID-19 together within the hospital, and maintaining strict visitor policies

  • Wayne Co. - 9 cases, 1 death
  • White Co. - 2 cases
  • Edwards Co. -2 cases
  • Wabash Co. - 1 case
