IL health officials: Nearly 400k total COVID-19 tests administered statewide

ILLINOIS (WFIE) - Gov. J.B. Pritzker and his team announced 2,887 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 130 additional deaths on Friday afternoon.

Illinois is currently reporting 73,760 total coronavirus cases.

As of now, 3,241 people across the state have lost their lives due to complications with COVID-19.

So far, nearly 400,000 tests have been administered statewide, including 20,661 completed tests over the last 24 hours.

According to the Governor, Friday was the first time the state had exceeded 20,000 coronavirus tests in a single day. Illinois is fifth in the country among states in the number of COVID-19 tests completed.
