IL surpasses 70k confirmed COVID-19 cases, 3k total deaths

ILLINOIS (WFIE) - Gov. J.B. Pritzker and his team announced 2,641 new COVID-19 cases and 138 additional deaths on Thursday afternoon.

This brings the statewide number to 70,873 total positive cases. As of Thursday, 3,111 people have died from complications with COVID-19 in Illinois.

According to Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike, 379,043 residents have been tested for the coronavirus, with 17,783 tests being administered over the last 24 hours.
