IL surpasses 35K positive cases of COVID-19, 1,500 total deaths

ILLINOIS (WFIE) - Gov. J.B. Pritzker and his team announced 2,049 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 98 additional deaths on Wednesday afternoon.

These latest numbers in Illinois raise the statewide totals to 35,018 positive cases and 1,565 coronavirus-related deaths.

Meanwhile, Gov. Pritzker announced that two additional state-run testing sites have opened. He says anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms can get tested, even people who do not have a doctor’s note.

As of Tuesday, the Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting that 4,665 people have been hospitalized across the state.

On Tuesday, Gov. Pritzker announced an additional $112 million in food assistance to children across the state. He says for families already receiving SNAP benefits, this increased assistance will be automatically added to family LINK cards.
