Investigation underway after body found in Ohio River in Perry Co.

PERRY CO., Ind. (WFIE) - Perry County Sheriff Alan Malone tells us first responders were called to a boat ramp in Rome after a fisherman found a body on the bank.

Additional assistance was provided by Indiana State Police, conservation officers and the Perry County Emergency Management Agency.

According to Sheriff Malone, state police are now in charge of the ongoing investigation.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.

State police say there is no positive identification at this time.

They say detectives are working on identifying the body and determining a cause of death.
