KENTUCKY (WFIE) - During his daily coronavirus update on Sunday afternoon, Gov. Andy Beshear reported 38 new COVID-19 cases - the lowest number of confirmed cases in one day in nearly two weeks.

However, Beshear urged Kentucky residents to not read too much into Sunday’s decreased number of confirmed cases. He says the lower number may be attributed to the lack of testing centers operating on Sunday.

Beshear also announced five additional coronavirus-related deaths, including an 85-year-old female in McLean County.

Kentucky is currently reporting 955 positive cases and 45 deaths due to complications from COVID-19.

Out of the 955 reported cases, Beshear says 306 patients have recovered.

Beshear stated at least 18,761 people have been tested, but he says health officials believe this number could potentially be much higher.
